Presenter: Heather Honey, Director of Open Source Intelligence for Gates Defense Systems
Description: As individuals, companies and governments increasingly transition to digital environments, the amount of online public data and digital exhaust grows exponentially. According to Pew Research, nearly 75% of all Americans use some form of social media -- making it one of the most abundant resources for open source intelligence collection. While there is no one-click solution for mining this public data, there are free tools and techniques that enable investigators to collect valuable information and evidence online while maintaining anonymity. This webinar will provide an introduction to the methodology and tools necessary to eliminate the noise of internet data overload and efficiently locate relevant open source information. Using case studies, we will examine real world examples of how powerful open source data can be when conducting investigations for corporations and law enforcement agencies.
