This presentation will examine the largest municipal embezzlement case in U.S. history and take a close look at why it happened, how the fraudster avoided detection for 22 years, and what has happened in the aftermath. This extraordinary case will be compared with current information regarding fraudsters, fraud schemes, and the warning signs of fraud.

About the Speaker
Cindy Carradine, CPA/CFF, CGMA
Managing Director, Forensics and Litigation Services
Cindy Carradine, CPA/CFF, CGMA, has more than 25 years of diversified experience providing litigation and forensic accounting services and as a former audit partner with a Big Four firm. Cindy is a testifying expert focusing on calculation of economic damages, forensic accounting, and litigation consulting. She assists attorneys, corporations, and individuals by investigating and analyzing accounting issues, providing economic damage calculations and analyses, leading forensic accounting and fraud investigations, and analyzing financial issues surrounding complex transactions.
In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Cindy is also Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant. She is an active local member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and serves on its Business Valuations, Forensic, and Litigation Services Committee. Cindy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University.

The Austin Area Chapter of The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org
Cancellation Policy and No Shows
If you have registered and/or paid for an event and you need to cancel, you MUST email info@austinacfe.com no later than 5 days prior to the event, unless otherwise indicated in specific event policies, to request a refund and/or cancel your registration. The Chapter must confirm event registrations with the venue within 5 days of the event and any changes after this time period can become a financial cost to the Chapter. Cancellations received less than 5 days prior to events will not be refunded except for exigent circumstances.
In the event an attendee does not show up to the event, the registration cost will be forfeited. If payment at the door was the selected method, then the attendee will be billed for the full cost of the event. The Chapter reserves the right to bar for future registration any attendees who routinely register and fail to pay and/or attend the event.
